BOTOX Q & A
WHAT IS BOTOX?
Botox is a cosmetic injectable that diminishes deep lines and wrinkles on the upper half of your face. Called a neuromodulator, Botox contains a botulinum toxin that temporarily paralyzes the muscles that contract to form the wrinkles.
Every time you squint, smile, or frown, your muscles contract, pulling your skin along with them, thereby creating the dynamic lines on your face that coincide with your expressions. Over time, and with continued contractions, your skin is less able to bounce back to a smooth surface as the movements get permanently etched in. This is largely due to repetition, as well as the loss of collagen in your skin that comes with aging. This loss is perfectly natural, but it leaves your skin less toned and elastic than it was when you were younger.
The end result is that with each passing year, the lines on the upper half of your face become more pronounced, often giving you a tired, or even angry, look.
WHAT CAN BOTOX TREAT?
Botox is approved by the FDA to temporarily improve moderate to severe:
Botox was first approved in 2002 and has been used by millions since, with great success.
HOW MUCH BOTOX DO I NEED?
The answer to this depends on the size and number of wrinkles and lines you want to treat. During your initial consultation at Arsenio Medical, the doctor sits down with you to review your goals and comes up with the best treatment plan to get you there.
In most cases, it only takes one visit to get the Botox you need, and there’s no downtime after your procedure, so you can get on with your day directly afterward.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
After one of the team administers the Botox, you should see results begin to gradually reveal themselves within 24 hours after your treatment and for the following several days as your muscles relax and your skin smooths out. After seven days, you should realize your optimal results.
HOW LONG DOES BOTOX LAST?
For most patients, Botox lasts up to four months, at which time you simply return for a touch-up treatment.

MEDICAL USES FOR BOTOX
Botox can help relieve certain types of headaches, like tension headaches and migraines. Botox works by stopping specific muscle contractions and blocking pain signals from your nerves to your brain, where the actual pain occurs.
Though many patients find relief fast, sometimes it may take multiple treatments to see optimal results, but after each session, the results are more noticeable. In patients who have had two Botox treatments, headache days are reduced by around 50%.
